Hunkeedory | Design Process
In this post, we will share with you the design process for Hunkeedory – The Wedding Experts. We will go from the brief stage to the final work in detail with a bit of gossip – to keep everyone entertained.
Client:
Nishant Awasthi (Founder / Owner)
(Existing Work)
Brief:
When Nishant walked into our office for the first time, he was a bit upset over his existing logo and stationary – made roughly at home, to get things started. But now that work was approaching a new level – it lacked presentation and appeal, from the perspective of getting more business. Not sure of where to go and what do – after consecutively hitting his head with dead ends, he gave us an open brief – “Please make Hunkeedory awesome.”
After much consoling, we sent Nishant home, with the promise of doing something that would appeal a diverse audience and present him in a fresh avatar.
Research & Conceptualizing:
From the moment Nishant left our office, we knew we had a challenging task ahead of us. At first, we got down on our Macs and searched all the wedding planners online – to get an idea of what others are doing. From here, we went out into the market and visited planners and event management companies – the good ones only – to see what they were doing different. By now, we had a substantial research booklet in our hand, but it made no sense. Ha. We wanted to do something creative and out-of-the-box but at the same time couldn’t deviate from business objectives and goals.
We figured it would be best to sleep over it for a few days.
A few days later:
Since we let all that information marinate in our heads for a few days, ideas finally started popping from unexpected corners. After much discussion and debate with the art director over beer, at a local pub, we finally had our idea. The Big Idea! We were happy. Time to hit our Mac lab.
The Big Idea:
The research had finally painted a picture for us. At one end we had the event management companies and on the other, the wedding planners – individuals like Nishant.
In our case, the USP was Nishant, a fun loving professional that had been the center of all 5 sibling weddings. Our idea fit in perfectly for Hunkeedory. We created a brand out of Hunkeedory, using Nishant Awasthi as the central character.
We moved away from the ‘party. no ordinary’ towards a more relevant proposition: The Wedding Experts.
We felt that showcasing Nishant Awasthi’s unique persona which – emanates a sociable, attention to detail, thorough professional with feet well sunk in local traditions – would set him apart from the crowd.
Photo Shoot:
We gave Nishant a call and asked him to appear at our office wearing the most impeccable blue or black suit (At this stage, we didn’t share what we we’re planning, keeping everything secretive). The whole time he kept wondering what we were up to and what we had in mind for him. All we told him was that it would be something he would like.

Final Work:
Business Card: We made the business card with one thing in mind, that, the card should be a one man show. If Nishant was to send his card out to 10 random people, they’d get his business within 1 minute of holding the card.
Envelope:
Letter Head:

Colours & Typeface:
The colours and fonts have been taken keeping in mind traditional Indian weddings. We have deliberately kept a modern yet very retro and classical look that appeals to a larger audience.
Client Testimonial:
“H DEGREE’s work is original and stylish and always to the highest standard. They care about attention to detail; they listen to their clients’ needs and go that “extra mile” to make sure the brief is understood. Their work on restructuring our Hunkeedory was a perfect example of that attention. As a result our marketing campaign was greatly enhanced.
I am delighted to chose H DEGREE. The advice, help and backup given by Harkirat & Paul was excellent and the modern logo that the company produced has been a great success and very popular with young and old alike.
H DEGREE has always delivered on time and their work is of an exceptionally high quality. The management and staff is professional in their approach to their work and approach all projects with an infectious enthusiasm.” Nishant Awasthi (Owner / Founder)
